“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” (Matthew 28:19)
We refer to this verse of Scripture as the Great Commission, but it is also a great commandment. The “go ye” that came straight from the mouth of Jesus was not a suggestion during a one-on-one conversation. It was not discussed casually one day over lunch. Quite the contrary, Jesus made an appointment with the disciples to meet them at a certain place, at a certain time, and with one distinct message, “Go, teach, and baptize”.
The eleven disciples could not possibly go into all nations, could they? Every believer from that point has been responsible for that commandment. The words of Christ’s Great Commission to his followers were to every generation. Those words state the goal, responsibility, and commissioning of the church’s missionary task which includes the primary responsibility of sending forth missionaries into every nation.
So now the burden has fallen onto us that can’t physically go into all nations. We sacrifice of our time, money and prayers for those that have answered the call to go. The Lighthouse has supported many missionaries for many years and will continue to support them and many more. We can pray daily for our missionaries, for their protection as well as for a great harvest of souls. In this way, we play a part in bringing each soul into the kingdom.
The Faith Promise pledge is a way that we say we will support with our finances as God blesses and provides for us. This is a sacrificial giving knowing that God will provide and he will always be with us (Matthew 28:20).
